Contact Lenses
Contact Lenses at Curts & Reed Optometry
Contact lenses are an excellent alternative to glasses or LASIK. Many patients choose contact lenses over glasses because they are comfortable, convenient, and don’t affect appearance.
We offer a wide selection of contact lenses including single vision, toric, bifocal/multifocal and colored contact lenses. These options also come in daily, weekly and monthly options. Our eye doctors will prescribe the best contact lens option for your lifestyle and vision needs.
A good contact lens fit
A contact lens is a medical device. Because it comes in contact with the eye, a precise fit is necessary. A contact lens fit starts with a thorough eye exam to ensure the most up-to-date prescription and to rule out any eye health conditions that would hinder the contact lens fit.
Our doctor will determine the best contact lens based on your lifestyle, vision and eye shape needs. Try the lenses on during your exam and take them home to tryout further before making a final decision about the contact lenses.
After the initial contact lens fitting, we schedule you back into the office for a follow-up appointment to make any necessary changes to the fit or the material. This appointment is typically 1 week after your initial fitting.
New to contact lenses?
No problem. We will teach you how to take the contact lenses out and how to put them in. We also teach all our patients how to take care of their contact lenses properly.
Multifocal contact lenses
Need reading glasses, but don’t like the look, feel or inconvenience of wearing glasses. Ask your eye doctor about multifocal contact lenses to get excellent vision at distance and near.
Scleral contact lenses
Custom-fit scleral lenses help patients with dry eyes or corneal irregularities like keratoconus achieve improvements in vision and comfort.
Contact Lens FAQs
Am i a candidate for contacts?
To find out if you’re a candidate for contact lenses, schedule and appointment with your eye doctor at Curts & Reed Optometry.
Can i wear my contacts while i sleep?
There are some contact lenses that are designed for and approved by the FDA for overnight wear. If you are wearing one of these contact lenses, be sure to follow your eye doctor’s guidelines, always replace the lenses on time, and do not wear longer than recommended to decrease the risk of complication. Sleeping in contacts always increases the risk of eye infection, and it is always healthier for your eyes to remove your contact lenses before sleeping.
Are disposable contact lenses good for my eyes?
Yes! Daily disposable contacts are not only the most convenient and easiest way to wear contact lenses, but they are also the safest and healthiest option.
Can i wear contact lenses while swimming?
Contact lenses can absorb contaminants from water, so we recommend not to wear contact lenses during swimming, showering, or using a hot tub.
